Film producer Gabriela Rodriguez has collaborated with the writer and director Alfonso Cuaron for more than a decade. But even she was surprised by the universal success his “Roma” has enjoyed.

Rodriguez thought the film would have an impact in Latin America. She never expected the accolades and awards at the Golden Globes and the British film academy’s BAFTAs.

Rodriguez will arrive Sunday at the Oscars as the first Latina ever nominated for best picture, and many believe she and the film have a good chance to win.

But whatever happens at the Oscars, she says: “I am only thinking of how much fun we’re going to have. We already feel victorious.”
