The systematic removal and sale of organs from prisoners of conscience and Falun Dafa practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is a huge business that has become the biggest genocide of the 21st century. However, the lack of transparency by the CCP, coupled with the unlimited power they developed in recent decades at the global level, makes it difficult for the international community to intervene and stop the atrocities that are taking place to this day.
Bitter Winter magazine, specializing in human rights in China, published on Monday, Sept. 14, a detailed article on the persecution suffered by the spiritual discipline Falun Dafa also known as Falun Gong. It tells of the Chinese Communist Party’s appalling role in mass murder, torture, and the forcible removal of organs from practitioners of the ancient spiritual discipline.
Falun Dafa is an ancient Chinese discipline. Because of its effects on health and its spiritual responses, Falun Dafa became very popular during its public dissemination in China between 1992 and 1999. As of early 1999, there were an estimated 70 million–100 million practitioners in China.
On July 20, 1999, CCP leader Jiang Zemin ordered the CCP to eradicate Falun Dafa within three months. From that day on, a brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners began and continues to this day. The campaign of slander and defamation extends even outside of China.
The persecution of Falun Gong is an atheistic campaign ordered by the Chinese Communist Party, and led by the 610 Office, a special extra-constitutional task force created specifically to exterminate Falun Dafa practitioners.
The campaign focuses on the implementation of a system of atheistic propaganda and smear campaigns against Falun Dafa, a program of ideological conversion and forced re-education, and a variety of illegal coercive measures, including arbitrary detention, forced labor, physical torture, forced removal of organs, and death.
In 2006, Canadian human rights lawyer David Matas, along with former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific David Kilgour, published a comprehensive report on the investigation they conducted over several months titled “Bloody Harvest: Independent Investigation into Allegations of Organ Harvesting from Falun Dafa Practitioners in China.”
The research concluded that the CCP used prisoners of conscience (mostly Falun Dafa practitioners) as a “living organ bank.”
The prisoners, once arrested, undergo blood tests and medical examinations to determine their compatibility with patients in need of a transplant and to confirm their good health. When a match is found, the prisoner’s organs are removed in a secret operation, followed by death.
According to the report, organ harvesting centers have the capacity to have performed between 1.5 million and 2.5 million transplants in the last 16 years. The authors suspect that the actual numbers of transplants are between 60,000 and 100,000 per year since 2000. Organ removal includes hearts, lungs, kidneys, livers, and corneas.
This is a big business for China, which has developed “transplant tourism” concentrating its clientele mainly on the richest citizens of China and on European, American, and Canadian citizens.
Despite the myriad allegations, investigations, and evidence showing the brutal persecution, removal of organs, and killing of Falun Dafa practitioners and other minorities, the enthusiasm to continue and expand trade with China by the vast majority of the world’s countries tends to make it detrimental to the interests of governments and the private sector to properly examine the available evidence of the genocide currently taking place by the CCP.
However, the Trump administration chose from the outset to condemn the human rights abuses committed by the CCP, and in recent months redoubled its commitment by taking strong concrete measures against the Party accordingly, such as the recent ban on imports from areas of China where concentration camps are known to exist.
July 20 marked the 21st anniversary of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. A State Department press release reads a call from the U.S. government to the Chinese Communist Party condemning the situation and calling for an immediate end to the abuse and mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners.
Despite the constant efforts and resources invested by the CCP, Falun Dafa continues its expansion around the world by spreading its values of righteousness, based on truthfulness, benevolence, and tolerance.
