COVID staff perform ‘ghost dance’ to prevent people from going out
Recently, a video compilation of the dances of the anti-epidemic army, so-called “Dabai,” in Xinjiang, was shared on Twitter. The purpose is to prevent people from going out of their houses.
The person who shared this video wrote, “It is better for the Xinjiang White Guards (Dabai) to dance and force back the residents who want to go out than to force back with assault rifles.”
The video has quickly attracted many reactions and reached over 100k views.
Netizens also left many comments after watching this video. @HollandClair1 said, “So scary”; @OKKIDS1 noted, “There is probably only one dance in the world that can scare people to run back; that is the ghost dance.”
Chongqing: The asphalt road melt and smokes due to extreme heat
Recently, Chongqing has suffered high temperatures.
According to Sina, as of August 22, the highest temperature in Chongqing has exceeded 40 ºC (104 ºF) for 15 consecutive days.
The intense heat affects people’s lives and causes fires in many places—severe wildfires were reported in Jiangjin, Dazu, Tongliang, and Banan districts.
Besides, a video shared online by a Chongqing local showed the road surface smoked and melted due to the hot weather.
Chongqing: Fuling river bed catches on fire
A video recorded by a visitor at a small river in Fuling, Chongqing, shows how gas comes out of cracks in the pebbles and bursts into flames.
The special thing is that these pebbles are in the middle of the flowing water. The man felt strange, so he picked up the wet fallen leaves and put them inside, but the fire was still burning evenly without being affected.
As Chinese media reported, this phenomenon was also recorded by people in July. Locals said that this has been happening for 4 or 5 years. Staff from the local natural resources bureau said the fire results from shale gas which is common in the local area. The gas in the river could easily cause a fire on the ground.
This could pose a hidden danger as Chongqing is experiencing prolonged high temperatures and withered trees.
