The Telegraph posted on April 16 that the British Ministry of Health prohibited the cameras purchased from Hikvision CCTV. This company was spying on the Uighur minority in China.

After a procurement evaluation uncovered ethical questions, British Health Secretary Sajid Javid ordered the government to stop purchasing security monitors from the firm.

U.K. schools, hospitals, and authorities now have over 1.3 million Hikvision cameras. The U.K. is the first government agency that has blocked the acquisition of these cameras.

The U.S. government blocklisted this company for human rights abuses.

According to the United States government, Hikvision implemented high-tech monitoring of ethnic Uyghur, Kazakh, and other Muslim minorities in 2019. Allegations of human rights breaches and atrocities linked to this movement.
