Top Wall Street analysts said that TikTok has become so popular that people watch it like they’re smoking crack cocaine. This could bring the media platforms more advertisers in the future.

According to Business Insider, more than 1 billion people use TikTok, even though it has only been around for 5 years. Analysts at Bernstein Research said,

“The algorithm pushed the most viral content directly to the user delivering endorphin hit after hit with each swipe.”

Some analysts have said that TikTok is like a drug. It’s like taking crack cocaine when browsing this Chinese-originated social media. Crack cocaine gives you pleasure faster than regular cocaine, but it also wears off faster. Make people so hooked that they can’t stop.

In March, state attorneys general from multiple states looked into TikTok to see how it might hurt the mental health of young users.

Several states are involved, including California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Vermont.

According to government officials and child-safety advocates, TikTok’s computer algorithms that send videos to users can encourage eating disorders, self-harm, and even suicide in young viewers.

In February, Texas started looking into claims that TikTok violated the privacy of children and helped with human trafficking.
