Security tightened in Beijing ahead of 20th National Congress

The 20th National Congress of the Chinese government is approaching. It will be held in Beijing on October 16. It is the important congress held every five years for officials with three main tasks: to endorse leadership transitions, approve changes to the party constitution, and deliberate on policy issues.

Ahead of such an important event, authorities are increasingly tightening security in Beijing.

People share on social media many police officers at the gate of Tiananmen Square. They are even interspersed, arranged to have a 360-degree view of the area. The atmosphere seems very tense.

China continues using disinfection tankers against Covid in Hebei

According to experts, the risk of spreading the virus through contaminated surfaces is low, and disinfection can harm people. Therefore, the disinfection method is unnecessary.

Many countries no longer use this method but encourage people to maintain good personal hygiene. However, since the COVID pandemic broke out in China, the disinfection method on city streets has become commonplace. And more than two years later, the Chinese government has stood firm on this method.

A video shared on the Internet shows many large tankers spraying disinfectant on the streets of Hebei province. The tankers are lined up with spray nozzles like water cannons. This causes the street to fog up.

The Chinese government still believes that this method will stop the spread of the pandemic. However, in reality, epidemics still appear in many places, and people’s health cannot be well guaranteed.
