According to Tencent, on August 24, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Air China announced successively that they agreed to purchase Airbus A320NEO series aircraft. 

Among them, China Southern Airlines purchased 96 aircraft with a basic price of nearly $12 billion (about 82 billion yuan.)

Eastern Airlines purchased 100 aircraft with a basic price of $12.5 (nearly 86 billion yuan.

Air China bought 96 aircraft with a basic price of around $12 billion (about 82 billion yuan). 

In total, the three major airlines have ordered 292 Airbus aircraft this time, with a total order price of nearly 250 billion yuan, over $36 billion.

Previously, the three major airlines announced successively that they signed an agreement with Airbus in July 2022 to purchase A320NEO series aircraft from Airbus.

China Southern Airlines also plans to buy 96 aircraft for $12 billion (82 billion yuan)

China Southern Airlines (01055, HK) announced on the evening of August 24 that the company agreed to purchase 96 Airbus A320NEO series aircraft at a total price of approximately $13 billion (equivalent to 82 billion yuan).

The company’s A-share China Southern Airlines (600029) previously announced that the company signed an agreement with Airbus in July 2022 to purchase 96 A320NEO series aircraft from Airbus.

The announcement states that the open market offer for the A320NEO family of aircraft (based on Airbus’ January 2020 list price) is approximately $105 million to $136 million per aircraft. 

The 96 A320NEO series aircraft mentioned above are scheduled to be delivered to the company in batches from 2024 to 2027, of which 30 will be delivered in 2024, 40 will be delivered in 2025, 19 will be delivered in 2026, and 7 will be delivered in 2027.

Considering possible adjustments to the fleet based on market conditions and aircraft age, purchasing 96 A320NEO series aircraft will increase the Group’s capacity by approximately 13% in terms of available ton-kilometers (ATK) of the company and its controlled subsidiaries.

China Eastern Airlines plans to buy 100 aircraft for almost 86 billion yuan, $12.5 billion. According to Airbus’s information, the basic price of 100 aircraft includes the cost of the fuselage and the engine.

On the same day evening, China Eastern Airlines (00670, HK) announced that the company agreed to purchase 100 A320NEO series aircraft from Airbus.

The 100 A320NEO series aircraft purchased at this time are planned to be delivered to the company in batches from 2024 to 2027, of which 28 are planned to be delivered in 2024, 31 are planned to be delivered in 2025, 34 are planned to be delivered in 2026, and 2027 are planned to be delivered. 7.

The company’s A-share China Eastern Airlines (600115) previously announced that the company signed the “Agreement on the Purchase of 100 A320NEO Series Aircraft” with Airbus in Shanghai, China, in July 2022, to purchase 100 A320NEO series aircraft from Airbus.

According to the announcement, the total base price of the 100 A320NEO series aircraft purchased at this time is approximately $13 billion.

The 100 A320NEO series aircraft purchased at this time are planned to be delivered to the company in batches from 2024 to 2027, of which 28 are planned to be delivered in 2024, 31 are planned to be delivered in 2025, 34 are planned to be delivered in 2026, and 2027 are planned to be delivered 7.

The company estimates that during the introduced aircraft’s delivery period (2024-2027), about 68 A320 series aircraft will be withdrawn due to lease expiration, and some of the company’s own aircraft will also be withdrawn due to factors such as aircraft age.

The 100 aircraft purchased at this time will partly replace and update the existing aircraft.

China Eastern Airlines pointed out that the A320NEO series aircraft purchased by the company is the latest generation of narrow-body aircraft from Airbus. 

By loading a new generation of large bypass ratio engines and sharks, the hourly fuel consumption of the A320NEO series aircraft is higher than that of the previous generation. 

It can be reduced by about 15%, the engine noise level is reduced by 50%, and the fuel economy and environmental protection level are significantly improved.

After the introduction of this aircraft, it will be mainly used in the domestic trunk network market to encrypt high-yield routes and develop potential markets. 

Some aircraft will also be used to fly Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and other surrounding international routes, which will help the company optimize its route network and improve the airline revenue level.

Air China plans to buy 96 aircraft for nearly 82 billion yuan, almost $12 billion.

The company’s A-share Air China (601111) previously announced that the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Air China Import and Export Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Air China Import and Export Company”) and Airbus signed an Air China purchase agreement on July 1, 2022.

The company purchased 64 Airbus A320NEO series aircraft; Shenzhen Airlines Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the company, and Airbus signed a Shenzhen Airlines purchase agreement in July 2022 to purchase 32 Airbus A320NEO series aircraft from Airbus.

The consideration for this transaction will be paid in cash in installments. In this transaction, the aforementioned aircraft purchased by the company are scheduled to be delivered in batches from 2023 to 2027.

The aforementioned aircraft to be purchased by Shenzhen Airlines is scheduled to be delivered in batches from 2024 to 2026.
