Since June, thanks to Shanghai’s lifted lockdown, the number of inbound and outbound flights has gradually recovered.

The arrivals count doubled from the previous week as Hainan announced that travelers from low-risk areas in Shanghai don’t have to be quarantined when arriving. The number of air tickets from Shanghai to Sanya has increased by 1.5 times, and the price has risen from 700 to 1,000 yuan, which is 100 to 150 dollars.

According to Caixin, the tourism industry mentioned that the epidemic had hardened residents’ income and spending power. One netizen said that airfare to Sanya wasn’t cheap. Most of the flights cost 1,000 yuan, but they are willing to go to de-stress. 

Since the COVID pandemic restrictions started in Shanghai, people were not only unable to travel, but other trips such as visiting relatives.

Some netizens added that the people of Shanghai had suffered a lot. These clients travel with little money left and have been locked up for a long time, so they should be treated with kindness.

A netizen confided that their grandmother died in June but couldn’t attend her funeral due to a 14-day quarantine.

Chen Liyang, a university student from Shanghai, said that she traveled at least twice a year before the resurgent COVID-19 pandemic disrupted all her travel plans.
