Shenzhen: people climbed fences to escape possible lockdown

According to NetEase, eight new COVID cases were reported in Shenzhen on July 18. Among them, 3 cases were confirmed, and five were diagnosed as asymptomatic infections.

Many places in Shenzhen turned to high risks, such as Fubao street in Futian county. Xili street in Nanshan district implemented 7-day closure and control measures at high-risk areas. People in controlled areas must take nucleic acid testing according to regulations. If there are no positive cases for seven days, it will be reduced to medium-risk areas. After three more days, if there are no positive cases, then it will become a low-risk area.

A video shows many people in Shenzhen hurriedly carrying their luggage and climbing the fences to escape after hearing their areas became high-risk. 

COVID-19 test kit manufacturing freaks people out

Since the beginning of the pandemic, China has mass-produced COVID-19 test kits.

Recently, a leaked video on social media shows the manufacturing process of the swabs for the COVID-19 test. The video then caught the public’s attention.

Footage shared on Twitter shows that people are putting swabs into bags. None of the workers wear protective suits, gloves, or masks. 

Several cartons are placed on the floor. 

Netizens also left their comments on this video. One user said, “What kind of environment is this? It’s hard to say if once the worker’s ears are itchy, will she take one of the cotton swabs to dig in her ears?”

Hainan: boat exploded and sank into the sea; 12 people escape death

On July 17, a fire accident occurred on a boat in Wanning, Hainan.

A video shows a white boat catching fire, thick black smoke billowing up into the sky. People quickly escaped the burning boat and moved to another boat next to it.

State-run media news outlet Huanqiu reported that 12 people on board were rescued. Two of them suffered from serious injuries.

According to the Sanya Maritime Bureau staff, the boat was sunk. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Tianjin: gas explosion left ten people injured

At about 7:15 on July 19, 2022, in Building 3, Huanyanli, Tianmu Town, Beichen District, Tianjin, a gas explosion occurred in a resident’s home, causing damage to the building. ( video)

As of 11:30 a.m., the number of injured in the accident has risen to 10. They have been sent to the nearest hospital for treatment, and the injured are not life-threatening. On-site rescue is still underway. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
