The names of some high-ranking officials in China’s Guangdong province have disappeared from their official websites, and it raises questions that they may be under investigation.
According to TimedNews, Ai Xuefeng was Deputy Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee. He was just transferred to Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission and Director of the province’s Greater Bay Area Office some days ago. But the outsiders noticed that his name had disappeared from the official website of the provincial commission.
On May 6, the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission said on its official website that Ai Xuefeng was appointed to the position mentioned above, replacing Zheng Renhao.
Ai Xuefeng has served as deputy director of the Hong Kong Economic Department, director of the Political Research Department of the Hong Kong and Macau Office at China’s State Council, deputy secretary and mayor of the Shaoguan Municipal Party Committee.
In April 2015, Ai Xuefeng was elected Shenzhen’s vice mayor. In April 2021, he was appointed as a member of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Standing Committee and became its deputy secretary in October 2021.
In April 2022, he was appointed as secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and director of the Greater Bay Area Office.
Meanwhile, Zheng Renhao has served as mayor of Shantou, Zhuhai, and the Zhanjiang Municipal Party Committee secretary.
Some days ago, the official website of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission showed that Ai Xuefeng’s name ranked first in the “Leadership Window.”
However, the outside world noticed that his name disappeared from the website on May 9, and his resume has also been removed.
A search on the website on May 10 shows that the first person in the “Window of Leadership” now is Zhu Wei, a member of the Party Leadership Group at the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and executive deputy director of the Greater Bay Area Office.
A commentary on Hong Kong-based Ming Pao stated that the Greater Bay Area Office had been held concurrently by the director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission since its establishment in 2018. The first director, Ge Changwei, resigned in May last year, and Zheng Renhao succeeded him.
The article claims that Zheng Renhao’s whereabouts are unknown.
With Ai Xuefeng and Zheng Renhao’s names no longer available on the official website, they are assumed to be under investigation.
