Besides the Shanghai and Jilin province lockdowns, China once again closed down Xi’an in Shaanxi province and imposed a higher control stage on Suzhou in Jiangsu province. Citizens in Qinghai will not be allowed to go out unless necessary.
Since March, Shanghai has entered its fourth week of city lockdown, and secondary disasters have occurred frequently.
In Shanghai, which has the title of an international metropolis, people have not been able to get enough food for weeks. Patients cannot seek medical treatment. Children are forcibly separated from their parents, and elder people living alone have died unexpectedly.
According to China’s seventh national census, Shanghai’s population is about 25 million. Since the government locked down such a large city with millions of people, until now, people are screaming that there was a shortage of supplies. In a series of short clips shared online on April 12, people in Jiufuyuan, Yufeng Shangdu, Panjing Road, Baoshan District, Shanghai shouted: “requires supplies .”There are even people who volunteered to go to jail to have food.
Jilin Province closed earlier and has not been wholly lifted out of lockdown. Last weekend, Jilin Province officials said that Jilin City had achieved the goal of “zero – Covid” in the community. However, people in Jilin told Chinese-language media Da Ji Yuan that they were still under lockdown.
On Thursday, April 14, Jilin Province announced that all cities and prefectures in the province would reach the ‘social zero Covid’ status. On the next day, the Changchun Municipal Health and Health Commission said that ‘social zero Covid’ does not mean “zero infection,” and the lockdown cannot be lifted immediately.
Xi’an is also not better as the city is once again on lockdown. The official said that starting from 0:00 on Saturday, April 16, the city will be temporarily closed for four days. People in the city’s communities and units can not go out unless necessary. Netizens questioned this order. They said that Shanghai also claims to lock down for only four days, but it has been lasting for more than half a month.
In addition to Xi’an, the provincial capital of Shaanxi Province, Fengdong New Town, Xixian New District, Shaanxi Province has also been closed since April 14.
Fengdong New City is closed and managed throughout the area. People on the site can not go out unless necessary, and traffic roads are set up for card control. The village groups and units in the area are under closed management, with only one entrance and exit point with 24-hour inspection and control.
In addition, the Jiangsu Suzhou official issued a notice in the early morning of Saturday, requiring Wujiang District, Wuzhong District, Xiangcheng District, Gusu District, Suzhou Industrial Park, and Huqiu District (Suzhou High-tech Zone) to further upgrade the epidemic prevention and control from 0:00 that day.
All residential quarters, urban villages, dormitories, and industrial parks are under closed management, and outsiders and vehicles are not allowed to enter unless necessary. These measures have been accused of being equivalent to closing the city in disguise.
According to the official announcement of Qinghai Province, from 21:30 on April 14 to 24:00 on April 17, the provincial capital Xining City will implement static management in Chengzhong District, Chengxi District, and Chengbei District. At the same time, the three administrative districts of Xining City’s Chengzhong District, Chengxi District, and Chengbei District will restrict the access of vehicles and pedestrians, respectively.
All the citizens are not allowed to go out unless necessary. Each household will let only one person go out shopping once.
From 0:00 on Friday, April 15, entire areas covering Shuangcheng District, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, will be closed for management. Non-essential people and vehicles will be prohibited from flowing, and all highways intersections entering and leaving Shuangcheng District will be subject to temporary traffic control.
In addition, Dongxing City, Guangxi, has been closed and controlled since the evening of February 23, and all employees are still under home isolation.
People posted on Weibo asking for help.
They said that for 50 days, they have no jobs, can not go outside, and suffer from more and more pressure. They said many people are both scared and helpless.
