Shanghai citizens revealed to NTD that the strict lockdown policy has led to secondary disasters, and many people have died.
NTD cited a circulating video showing that government officials in white carried a dead body out of a house. The incident is said to have happened in Jiangqiao town, Jiading District, Shanghai. People who witnessed the incident were asked not to record or take photos.
Some Shanghai residents confirmed to NTD that many people in their neighborhood have died but not from starvation.
A resident told NTD that a 60-year-old man had died. The cause of death is believed to be that this man did not accept nucleic acid testing, so the authorities did not put him on the list of people who needed help. Although volunteers helped with food, this divorced man did not survive.
A resident named Chen Hua said that he witnessed death with his own eyes. It was discovered that one man had not been seen for several days. Other residents entered his house and found the man lying on the ground but still breathing. However, despite being treated later, the man still passed away.
Chen Hua said the man suffered from various diseases. His wife usually takes care of him, but recently, his wife tested positive for nucleic acid and had to go into isolation. Living for many days in unattended conditions, the man quickly deteriorated in health.
Chen added that an 80-year-old man was left behind because his family was forced to quarantine. The older man later died from lack of care.
Not only the elderly and weak have died due to the Chinese government’s extreme epidemic prevention and control policies. Chen said that a 15-year-old kid in his neighborhood jumped to his death because of depression after being locked in a house for days.
