Even though China pursues its “zero-COVID” policy, the pandemic continues to spread throughout the country. And now, COVID is spreading via trains.
According to Chinese media Mimi Zhongguo, several people have recently been infected with COVID. They are all related to the Z274 train from Xining, Qinghai, to Qingdao, Shandong. The train passed through 17 stations in many provinces. Authorities are now urgently searching for the passengers and relevant staff on that train.
The Z274 train starts from Qinghai Xining Station and ends at Shandong Qingdao Station, taking around 30 hours to travel more than 1100 miles. It passed through 17 stations in Shandong, Jiangsu, Hubei, and other provinces.
Chinese media outlet Huanqiu reported that on September 23, Qingdao, Shandong registered two additional local asymptomatic infection cases. They both came back to Shandong from outside the region.
On September 22, the two who traveled from different provinces took the train Z274 to Qingdao.
Up to now, many infected people related to the Z274 train have been found in many places.
Conductors, train cleaners, and passengers are among those who have been infected in recent days.
People who have taken the Z274 train are urged to report immediately.
