A video released on social media by the Ukrainian website HB, a Ukrainian news outlet, shows a Ukrainian man urgently trying to stop a Russian military convoy—valiantly trying to stop an armored convoy running beside him.
HB tweeted on their account, “Ukrainian rushes under enemy equipment so that the occupiers do not pass.”
The clip posted online Friday, Feb. 25, purportedly shows the incident echoing the iconic image of a lone protester standing in front of a line of tanks in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in June 1989.
The square became the site of massive protests as Chinese people called for greater political freedom from the communist regime. Many people were killed when Communist authorities sent troops to suppress the protesters.
Many social media users commented that the lone man seen in the footage in Ukraine is the country’s “tank man” as the Russian attack continues.
The 28-second clip shows the unidentified man stepping in front of a truck, causing it to swerve to avoid hitting him. However, the clip shows the man apparently unharmed.
