In the face of China’s big tech crackdown, tech executives have also reduced their social media activity.
As the South China Morning Post reported on May 1, Liu Chuanzhi, founder of the tech company Lenovo, and his daughter Liu Qing, president of ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing, have both hidden their posts on the Twitter-like platform Weibo.
A notice on their Weibo accounts on April 30 shows that none of those posts are visible to the public.
Notably, on April 28, Weibo reported that it would begin to display the location of the users’ IP address on users’ personal homepage and comment section to curb rumors. Users then can not automatically turn on or turn off this IP feature.
