An explosion happened in a house in Annan Street, Binhu district, Wuxi city, Jiangsu province at about 6:17 a.m. on June 14.
Footage showed that the roof of the 2-story house had collapsed after the explosion. The doors, windows, and some walls were blown away, and the main structure was severely damaged. The scene was a mess, and firefighters were working to rescue them.
Witnesses reported they heard an explosion at the time of the incident and residents were buried in the rubble.
At present, the search and rescue work is still underway. Two injured people have been found at the scene and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to Wuxi’s official, the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
It was spread on the Internet that the initial occupant of the house was buying scrap and illegally sawing acetylene cylinders, resulting in an explosion.
Before that, Jiangsu province had another residential building explosion in Hutang Town, Wujin District, Changzhou City, on May 24. The accident left three people slightly injured, two people seriously injured, and one person died after resuscitation failed.
