According to Chinese state-run media, some experts said on December 7 that the Chinese might see a surge in COVID cases as the pandemic prevention measures are further relaxed.
People will likely have a high demand to travel during the upcoming New Year’s Day and Chinese New Year holidays. Therefore, the experts expect the pandemic to reach its peak, which will then challenge the medical system and vulnerable groups in society.
On December 8, a military compound in Beijing reportedly predicted that the first COVID peak in Beijing would begin on January 5 after starting on December 15. It also reminded people to stay at home to avoid being infected.
On December 7, Shijiazhuang internet users revealed that the Second Provincial Hospital was supposedly overcrowded.
In several photos shared on the Internet, many extremely ill patients were lying on the ground in the waiting area at the Second Hospital of Shijiazhuang Province.
In the corner of the hospital corridor, another patient was covered with a cloth over the face and may have died. Doctors were giving first aid to one patient.
There was a long queue of people reportedly waiting outside another Beijing hospital.
On December 8, another video allegedly showed a Wuhan hospital crowded with people suffering from colds and fevers.
