Covid outbreak in Hong Kong is out of control and has spread to Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, Chinese media Apollo reported on Feb. 15. The local government informed that two people returning from Hong Kong were diagnosed with the disease and the city of Chenzhou is now in emergency mode.
Chenzhou is located in the southeast of Hunan, with a permanent population of about 4.66 million. Chenzhou then entered into emergency status immediately after the discovery of the outbreak. In addition, the epidemic is out of control in Hong Kong, with more than 1,000 new cases each day and many young children diagnosed, overwhelming the health care system. Hong Kong authorities have warned that this is the most difficult situation since the outbreak began.
According to Newsrnd, the Epidemic Prevention and Control Office of Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, stated on Feb. 15th that “Chenzhou reports two confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia among Hong Kong returnees.”
The Chinese media Apollo then revealed their activity.
At 4 a.m. on Feb. 14, Xiao Mou and Deng Moukang entered Zhuhai, Guangdong, by boat from Hong Kong and then arrived in Chenzhou in their private car.
At about 4 p.m. that afternoon, both drove to the South Hospital of the First People’s Hospital of Chenzhou City for nucleic acid testing. They then checked into the hotel on Nanling Avenue in Beihu District.
On the 15th, both tested positive for COVID and were admitted to the designated hospital for isolation and treatment.
Chenzhou officially reported that the outbreak originated in Hong Kong. Still, the authorities covered up the recent outbreak throughout China, so whether there were confirmed cases in Chenzhou before and how many people were infected is yet to be verified.
