According to the Taiwanese administration, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Taiwan from March 3rd to March 5th.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Pompeo and his wife will meet with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu, and deliver a speech to a think tank.

The ministry stated, “Former Secretary of State Pompeo is a long-term and staunch friend of Taiwan and made outstanding contributions to promoting Taiwan-U.S. relations during his time in office.”

On March 2nd, Pompeo is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan and meet with President Tsai Ing-wen the following day. He will also meet with top executives from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), state-owned China Steel Corp., and others.

Miles Yu (余茂春), a senior China planning and policy assistant to Pompeo during the Trump presidency and now a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute will join him.

The MOFA said Pompeo and his wife would have dinner with Taiwanese Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu (吳). Pompeo will appear on March 4th at an event hosted by the Prospect Foundation.

Both Lai and Pompeo had met before in the National Prayer Breakfast in 2020, an annual nonpartisan event in the United States that advocates religious liberty.
