On February 24, the Intermediate Court of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, opened a trial on Song Liang (宋亮), a former member of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor of Gansu Province.

According to state-run media CCTV media, when Song was a senior official of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu Province from 2003 to 2020, he abused his position to benefit others by setting up microfinance companies and obtaining loans. From 2000 to 2020, Song Liang illegally received property worth over 12 million dollars from others directly and through his relatives.

Song Liang pleaded guilty and repented in his final statement at the trial.

According to public information, Song Liang, 59 years old, successively served as senior official in Inner Mongolia for 32 years before he was sacked in Gansu (甘肃).

Song Liang was a Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee, Executive Vice Governor, and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Government Party Leadership Group in June 2018. He retired from the position in February 2021. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection investigated him in October of the same year.
