China’s anti-graft body announced an investigation into Li Xiaobao, director of Jiangxi’s Culture and Tourism Department and Party Leadership Group’s secretary, on May 23 for alleged serious violations of discipline and law.

The announcement came over one year after Li took office in March 2021.
Li once held several high-ranking positions in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and China’s power system.

Before Li’s dismissal, Jiangxi province has witnessed several personnel changes.
Most recently, Gong Jianhua, Jiangxi Provincial People’s Congress’s former deputy director, was removed from his current position and the CCP on May 10 on suspicion of taking bribes.

Previously, Wang Jianghua, deputy director of Jiangxi’s Education Department, was dismissed on April 24.

Xiao Qunqun, former deputy director of Jiangxi’s Education Evaluation and Monitoring Research Institute, was investigated on the same day.

The list of Jiangxi’s officials under arrest or investigation names Xiao Zhihua, Jiangxi’s Education Work Committee’s deputy secretary, and Ye Hualin, Pingxiang Municipal Government’s deputy mayor.
