Apple’s largest production facility in the world, Zhengzhou Foxconn, is facing production capacity problems due to the impact of China’s pandemic policies.
On November 7, the WeChat public account of ”Foxconn iDPBG Zhengzhou Recruitment” issued a pre-recruitment announcement.
The announcement said that due to the company’s business needs, it is now hiring. The hourly wage is 30 yuan/hour ($4.18). This round of hiring will go until February 15, 2023. Those who have been on the job for less than 7 days will be paid according to the same salary as their co-workers.
The factory had encouraged former employees to return by giving each person 500 yuan ($68) if they returned by November 5.
In addition, Apple also made an announcement on its official website, saying that pandemic restrictions have temporarily affected the production of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max at its main assembly plant in China. The Zhengzhou facility is currently suffering from “significant output reductions.”
Apple said it now expects shipments of both phones to be lower than previously expected, while customers will have to wait longer to receive their new phones.
Foxconn is the largest Apple facility in the world. Manpower is one of the most important factors to keep the giant assembly line running. However, recently they saw thousands of workers leave just because of the CCP’s draconian “zero-COVID” policy.
