Thousands of tourists are trapped in China’s tropical island of Hainan as it struggles to contain the COVID outbreak. Sanya city has always been a favorite summer holiday destination due to its sandy beaches and tropical climate. According to a statement on the city’s WeChat account, commercial flights for domestic passengers out of Sanya would resume on Monday.
According to Bloomberg News, Shanghai authorities announced on Sunday that those leaving Hainan would be quarantined at home for three days, and for the following four days, they will need to check their health.
On August 12, an online video showed a fierce argument between passengers on the bus and the COVID prevention staff. Reports are that these passengers just returned from Hainan province on the regime’s chartered flight. They were on their way to a quarantine site to undergo compulsory isolation.
Some people on the bus asked to stop to use a toilet, but the COVID prevention staff’s move then angered the passengers. They brought a plastic bucket and placed it in the bus doorway. The passengers didn’t know what the bucket was for at first. But right after the staff explained, they instantly became furious.
