The new outbreak of COVID in mainland China continues to spread, with more than 4,000 people infected in a single day.

The National Health Commission of China announced on March 21 that there were 2.338 new confirmed cases, including 57 imported cases and 2.281 local cases.

There were also 2.432 new cases of asymptomatic infections, including 119 imported cases and 2.313 local cases.

The pandemic has recently worsened in Jilin, Hebei, Tangshan, and other provinces. Shanghai has set a new high for the number of infections in a single day.

On March 19, Shanghai added 509 new cases of Covid, marking a new high of infections in a day. Several hospitals in Shanghai have suspended medical services due to the widespread epidemic.

Health Commission of Jilin city announced on March 20 that there were 452 new confirmed cases and 545 new cases of asymptomatic infections.

As Sina reported, as of March 19, there are 1,949 sealed and controlled areas in Jilin city.

On March 20, the city issued an emergency notice regarding tighter community control to prevent the pandemic from spreading further. From March 21 to March 25, employees in the controlled area are not allowed to leave their houses.

The police patrol the city on a regular basis, bolstering checkpoint management, maintaining the order of nucleic acid testing, and preventing mass gatherings.

In Hebei, the province’s Health Commission reported 51 new confirmed cases and 356 new asymptomatic infections on March 20.

Tangshan officials also announced that they would strengthen the management and control of key places in the city, saying the current epidemic prevention and control situation is complicated.

From March 20, all roads in the city are subject to 24-hour traffic control every day.
