The Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced 29 confirmed cases from midnight on June 9 to 15:00 on June 10. This new cluster of outbreaks began in local bars and involved 12 districts.
Over 85% are under the age of 30. In addition, one patron had flown to and from Guangzhou, resulting in a risk of hidden transmission in society.
The bar in question is the Paradise Supermarket Bar, which is at Number 6, West Gongti Road, Chaoyang District.
Among 29 infected cases, 26 visited that bar from June 6 to June 7. Another case was a staff member of the bar. The remaining 2 cases were related to visiting staff.
Customers visiting the bar come from different occupations, such as restaurant workers and company employees.
Due to the dense clientele of the bar, the complex composition of its patrons, and the failure of anti-epidemic measures, such as code scanning, temperature check, and negative nucleic acid test certificate, controlling the outbreak faces increasing difficulties.
Updated data shows 36 new confirmed local cases and 25 asymptomatic infections from midnight to midnight on June 10. The vast majority of infected citizens had visited the Paradise Supermarket Bar.
Shunyi District authorities reported on June 10 that they had found two positive cases related to the infected cluster at the bar. One had traveled between Beijing and Guangzhou on June 8.
