NTD reported that Qin Zewen represented China at the 71st Miss World Global Finals 2022. Qin is currently accused of falsifying academic and work records. At the moment, Miss World organizers have also stepped in to investigate the incident.

Chinese media introduced Qin, 25, as a person with a degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in finance, who worked as an intern at prestigious companies such as Oracle and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She is currently working as an analyst at Essence Securities.

On August 23, Qin Zewen wrote on Weibo that she participated in the Miss World contest to fulfill her childhood dream and to bring the voice of Chinese women in the financial industry to the world.

However, later, it was reported that Qin Zewen’s education, internship, and work experience were fake.

At 20:02 on August 23, China’s media updated an introduction of Qin. The introduction to Qin Zewen’s education and work experience was removed in its entirety. Her “master’s degree” also disappeared.

Essence Securities released a statement on August 25, saying that Qin Zewen worked for the company from June 22, 2020 to December 31, 2021. During her time at Essence Securities, Qin’s main duties were customer service.

On August 25, China’s media reported that Qin Zewen graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University. But some online accounts said she was actually a graduate of East China Jiaotong University, located in Jiangxi, a less prestigious university.
