On March 16, the People’s Government of Yunnan Province reported that the total number of reported infectors in the local epidemic had exceeded 15,000, affecting 27 provinces, from March 1 to March 14.

Domestic spreading cases caused by imported epidemics have increased significantly since the beginning of March, and the scope of infection has continued to expand.

According to a survey conducted by Health Times, a medical media owned by China’s People’s Daily, at least five provinces and cities in China have dismissed local officials for their failure to prevent the epidemic. More than 60 people have been held accountable.

The epidemic in Dongguan 东莞 started in early March. After the Guangdong 广东 Provincial Party Committee and the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee studied and investigated the situation, they decided to remove six people from their positions, including Huang Shouying 黃守應, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau.

In addition, many school cadres in Jiutai 九台 District were also removed from their posts for investigation.

Shandong Qingdao 山东青岛 Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision recently reported that 17 officials were punished for their lack of vigilance and carelessness in implementing epidemic prevention and control measures.

At the same time, Huludao 葫蘆島 City in Liaoning遼寧 Province dismissed 22 officials, ranging from township party committee secretaries and township chiefs to county health bureau chiefs.
