China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) has banned meat purchases from three Brazilian beef exporters, as coronavirus was found on their packing products.
The ban was imposed on JBS SA, Marfrig, and Naturafrig for one week, starting on Saturday, April 16.
Reuters reported that Chinese authorities had discovered nucleic acids from the new coronavirus on the outer packaging of frozen products. These products belong to four production lots from the three Brazilian exporters.
Last week, three other Brazilian firms were also banned for one week, effective from April 8, including two Brazilian beef and one poultry producer.
