On the evening of Dec. 6, a fire broke out at a construction site of Beijing’s new Fengtai Railway Station. According to Netizens, the area where the fire broke out was the workers’ quarters of the China railway construction company. There is currently no explanation for the cause of the fire.
According to Beijing Daily, the fire began around 7 p.m. on Dec. 6. The construction site workers were evacuated. The fire lasted nearly an hour, according to eyewitnesses, and was put out by the fire department around 9 p.m. that night.
The fire began in the southern section of Fengtian Road, according to Wang, an eyewitness.
According to the Beijing Fire and Rescue Department, no one was injured in the fire.
According to a video circulating online, the fire took hold quickly, destroying five structures. Because the path to the fire was narrow, it took the fire truck half an hour to arrive and put out the fire. According to the individual who recorded the footage, the recently constructed Feng Tai train station was already on fire.
Beijing Youth Daily stated on Nov. 24 that the station was nearing completion and would be operational by the end of 2021.
There is no official information on the cause of the fire yet. However, there is a lot of public opinion about the cause of the fire.
One netizen commented that the fire might have been staged to fabricate evidence to cover corruption charges. Another said, burning the works themselves to hide their sins and protect many party members and construction managers.
The vast majority of online public opinion was critical of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They said, “A fire that does not burn officials is not a good fire.”
They also stated that if I heard that a regular house had caught fire and someone had died, I would be heartbroken and in tears. But if Zhongnanhai is burned down, I’ll celebrate by drinking wine. My heart has hardened totally. I beg God to release your wrath on the Communist Party of China’s top leadership group.
Another netizen continued, “If Zhongnanhai gets burned down, I won’t just drink one drink. I’ll light firecrackers.”
Another Twitter user captioned the video, “Fengtai Railway Station on fire, symbolizing that the Chinese Communist Party will be buried in flames.” After that, though, the post was no longer visible.
