An uploaded video shows many Beijing residents were being secretly locked inside a supermarket in Fengtai District on June 25.
According to the netizen uploading the video, he was shopping at the Joy Breeze Plaza in the district but was suddenly locked inside for isolation.
There are lines of residents suffering the same plight. However, people seem to be indifferent to the sudden announcement. Instead, they focus on lining up or playing with their phones.
Beijing authorities earlier announced one new confirmed local case and two imported asymptomatic infections.
The new confirmed case lives in the office building of Xitieying Wanda Plaza, not far from Joy Breeze Plaza in the same district. The resident was diagnosed as a positive confirmed case on June 25.
The above cases have been transferred to designated hospitals with necessary control measures and investigations.
Sudden notifications from authorities in China are not a strange thing.
For example, Shanghai imposed a strict lockdown without warning in March, affecting the lives of more than 25 million residents.
Recently, China has opened floodgates to discharge floods without warnings, leading to many southern districts being submerged in floods. In some places, such as Guangdong, the flood level rose to the third floor of people’s houses.
