President Donald Trump predicted the U.S. economy would crash just like what happened during the Great Depression if any of the Democratic presidential candidates were elected next year.

“Our record Economy would CRASH, just like in 1929, if any of those clowns became President!” President Trump wrote in a tweet on Wednesday morning, Oct. 16.

The president may be referring to the ‘record economy,” the positive economic achievements his administration has gained since he took office. Pro-job policies helped reduce the unemployment rate to a 50-year low at 3.5%, while the pro-economic agenda helped boost U.S. GDP growth at 2.4% during his first year in office, 2.9% in 2018, and on track at about 2% this year.

President Trump predicted doom for the world’s largest economy one day after Democrats made another round of debate at Otterbein University in Ohio, where 12 contenders were assailing at one another and at the president.
In a tweet earlier on Wednesday, President Trump mocked the Democratic candidates, saying there is no way any of them could replace him. The president then slammed the Democrats for pushing a totally illegal and absurd impeachment, which was the first topic discussed at the debate, with several candidates voicing their support for the impeachment probe.
